Co- Curricular; Co- Curricular. ANNUAL ZONAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION (ZONE 28) The school hosted Annual Zonal Prize Distribution Ceremony on 13 February 2020. Rajni Rawal, Deputy Director of Education, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The co-curricular programme will run at different times, depending on the age of your child. Activities are age-appropriate but with sufficient challenge and rigour. In the Junior School, a wide variety of clubs will be run each week providing an inspiring array for students to choose from. Co-Curricular We call them co-curriculars, not extracurriculars, because they're not 'extra', at all. The co-curricular experience is not an add-on to the Gibbons experience. Co-curriculars are as much a vital part of our mission as an English paper, a science lab or a retreat.
ANNUAL ZONAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION (ZONE 28) The school hosted Annual Zonal Prize Distribution Ceremony on 13 February 2020. Rajni Rawal, Deputy.
Our cocurricular program is designed to help boys develop an understanding of their place in the world and how they can contribute back to their local, national and international communities. Each activity offered is carefully and considerately designed to further their intellectual, personal, physical, social and emotional growth and development.
We offer over 100 different cocurricular activities, encompassing an incredibly wide range of disciplines and fields of interest. The breadth of our cocurricular program means there is something for each boy, and we strongly encourage them to involve themselves in as many activities as possible, so as to discover new interests, talents and passions.
Sport
In the Junior School, boys in Years 3 to 6 participate in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Swimming and Athletics Championships, as well as weekly inter-house competitions at Bulleen, and regular round-robin sports with other Associated Grammar Schools Victoria (AGSV) Junior Schools.
In the Senior School, Trinity competes in the AGSV Saturday morning competition. All boys choose a summer and a winter sport from almost 30 different options. Our playing fields at Bulleen provide dedicated facilities for tennis, soccer, rugby, football, hockey and cricket, and we also offer a number of non-AGSV sport activities such as rugby, sailing, fencing and futsal.
Outreach Program
Our Outreach Program encourages boys, through active service in local, national and international initiatives, to become aware of their privilege, the needs of less fortunate members of their community, and the contribution they can make.
Performing Arts
We offer a diverse and engaging music program to all students from ELC to Year 12. Our Music Faculty offers a wide range of instrumental lessons, classroom music programs and ensembles, providing boys with well-rounded musical development.
Our Drama faculty stages a large number of productions each year. Some boys prefer to be on stage, while others prefer the supporting roles in sound, lighting or stage management. The Senior School House Performing Arts Festival is one of the highlights of the School year.
Outdoor Education
The personal insights and self-knowledge gained in the outdoors can contribute to the way a boy manages the situations he meets in other parts of his life. The outdoor program provides learning experiences on many levels. These are enjoyed by boys as they extend their knowledge of themselves, their peers and the natural environment.
I guess you will still be worried about the differences between Extra-Curricular activities and Co-curricular activities.
Sometimes it might not be so clear to you because both of them are similar but in this
post, I will show you the unique differences between these two activities.
What are Curricular Activities:
Curricular activities are basically everything that has to do with your course of study.
It includes your courses, the required topics to be taught, the practicals involved and the time it will be taught.
Curricular activities are followed by Co-curricular activities and Extra-curricular activities.

Co-Curricular Activities:
Just like the name “Co” implies, it complements the curricular activities done in school.
These activities are school activities that helps students understand better what is taught in school.
It can be sponsored by the school to help improve the social life of a student because it’s in line with academic activities and it’s
like an experimentation of what is taught in class though it’s more practical here.
E.g of Co-curricular Activities are Art shows, Jet Club, Drama Competition, Chess Competition, debates etc.
These activities might take place during school hours or after school hours and the school is 100% in support of it.
In comparing these activities, this is one factor that distinguishes both of them.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
Extra unlike Co-curricular activities are the activities done after school hours.

Even from the name “Extra”, you will notice that they are the things you need to do after school activities, so the name explains it well.
E.g Political Activities, Sports, Swimming, Athletics, Gymnasium etc.
All these activities are totally not in line with the curricular activities but are there to help build and develop the life of a College Student.
Practical Explanation of Extra and Co-Curricular Activities:
Joe is a College Student that studies Chemical Engineering, he is a dedicated
member of Jet Club which a Co-curricular activity that is part of the school activities.
After school activities, he goes for soccer training which is totally off the school
activities(Extra-Curricular activity) and plays wonderfully well.
So this is a clear explanation of the differences between the two..

How do I balance my Extra-Curricular life and Academic Life:
Sometimes being too involved in Extra-Curricular can make you take off your attention and forgot your reason for being in school.
How do you handle it so that one doesn’t affect the other while still being productive in both.
- Plan your day
- Do your best
- Manage your time properly
- Don’t take more than you can do
Conclusion:
These are the differences between Extra-Curricular activities and Co-curricular activities. Sometimes I misplace the two but by now it’s clear to you and I.
